14th Malaysian Chess Festival 2017

22 March 2017, Kuala Lumpur – The upcoming Malaysian Chess Festival 2017 is slated for the 25th August till 4th September 2017 for the fantastic series of eight continuous seamless chess manic tournaments over the  National Independence Day weekend. The following flyer has the details:-

IMU IPT Open Chess 2016, 5th November 2016

10 October 2016, Kuala Lumpur – A chess tournament will be held on the 5th November 2016 at Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. The tournament is called IMU IPT Open Chess 2016. It is open to all bona fide Institutes of Higher Education (IPT) students only.

Nik Ahmad Farouqi wins Langkawi Chess Open 2016

2 Oct 2016, Kuala Lumpur – In Langkawi, Kedah, Nik Ahmad Farouqi wins the Langkawi Chess Open 2016 with 6.5 points. Second, Zaidan Zulkipli and third, IM Mas Hafizulhelmi with 6.0 points. Only two fiipinos here, Nelson Villanueva in sixth place and Felix E Gonzales in ninth with 5.5 points.

One hundred and twenty eight participants took part in this year’s Langkawi Chess Open 2016.

Yeoh Li Tian Wins Dato Sri Dr R Prushotman Chess Open 2016, Nilai

2 Oct 2016, Kuala Lumpur – In Nilai, Negeri Sembilan, Yeoh Li Tian wins the Dato Sri Dr R Prushotman Chess Open 2016 with 5.5 points from six rounds of play. Second, Lye Lik Zang with 5 points and third, Mohd Hafizul Ishak.

Forty-five players participated in the inaugural chess tournament in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

IM Pascua Haridas wins Rompin International Chess Open 2016

2 Oct 2016, Kuala Lumpur – In the Rompin International Chess Open, PMSICO 2016 (Open) was won by IM Pascua Haridas of the Philippines. Second, IM Senador Emmanuel and third by Ian Udani. All top three players ended with 7.5 points each but separated by tie-break points. In fact, eight of the top ten places were won by Filipino chess players. The remaining two were Malaysians, CM  Mohd Kamal Abdullah in fifth spot and Kamaluddin Yusof at eighth spot.

142 players participated in the keen contest for the Rompin International Open 2016 of which nine are from Philippines and the rest Malaysians.

18 Sep 2016, Kuala Lumpur – In the 11th GOLDIS Malaysia Chess Challenge 2016, Indonesian, Kamalsyah Muhammad scored an awesome 8.0 points from 9 rounds of play. In second position is Malaysian, Tan Yong Zhao with 7.5 points and third, Malaysian Yusoff Fairul with 7.0 points.
